SUBJECT:	School Bus Safety Week, October 20-26, 2002

On behalf of the Department of Education and the Board of Education, it is my pleasure to announce that Governor Mark Warner has signed a proclamation declaring October 20-26, 2002, as School Bus Safety Week.

I hope that you and others throughout your community will join me in acknowledging the efforts of our school bus drivers, mechanics, directors, principals, and teachers. Their dedication to transporting students safely in Virginia is worthy of this recognition by the Governor. They deserve our recognition as well. I hope you will celebrate School Bus Safety Week in your schools during this week.
