Board of Education Guidelines for the

Substitute Standards of Learning Evaluation Program for Certain Students with Disabilities Who Cannot Be Accommodated on Standards of Learning Tests

At its November 20, 2002 meeting, the Board of Education adopted the above-referenced guidelines. This program is intended for a limited number of students with disabilities who cannot be accommodated on the Standards of Learning tests because of unique physical or mental disabilities.

In late January, the Department of Education will be working with a representative group of stakeholders to prepare implementation guidelines that will be disseminated to school divisions. In the meanwhile, however, we wanted you to be aware of this action by the Board of Education.
