Educational Facility Planners Conference February 24-25, 2003 |
Attached is a
brochure describing the Virginia Educational Facility Planners (VEFP)
conference that the Department of Education is co-sponsoring with Virginia
Polytechnic Institute and State University (VPI & SU) Division of
Continuing Education. The Conference
will be held at the Virginia Crossings Resort, Glen Allen, Virginia, on
February 24-25, 2003. There will be a
two-day interactive workshop on facilities and planning.
There also
will be an exhibit of recent school projects completed in Virginia and a
distinguished jury to recognize the most successful projects. Plaques will be presented to the architects
and winning schools in four categories.
The
registration fee includes a banquet on Monday evening, continental breakfast on
Tuesday morning, and lunch on Tuesday.
If you wish to stay at the hotel on Monday night, the conference rate is
$77 single or $79 double, plus tax.
Highlights of
this years conference include a site visit to the newly renovated Maggie L.
Walker Governors School, and a panel discussion of the Public/Private
Educational Facilities and Infrastructure Act of 2002. This legislation creates
a new financing vehicle for public schools to make facility improvements. Also,
a business meeting of VEFP is scheduled at the luncheon on Tuesday. I hope you
or someone from your staff will attend and express your needs to the Board of
Trustees and will participate in the election of new officers for the coming
year.
Please
register directly with VPI & SU for the conference and/or room using the
form in the attached brochure. For
questions on the program please call Vijay Ramnarain or Hunter Barnes, Office
of Support Services, at (804) 225-2035.
