Report on Effective Treatment Modalities for Children and Adolescents with
Mental Health Treatment Needs |
The 2002
General Assembly enacted Senate Joint Resolution 99 (SJR 99) which directed the
Commission on Youth to collect and disseminate empirically-based information on
treatment modalities and practices recognized as effective for the treatment of
children, including juvenile offenders, with mental health treatment needs,
symptoms, and disorders. This effort
has been guided by both an advisory and a clinical group comprised of state and
local representatives from the Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation
and Substance Abuse Services, Department of Social Services, Department of
Medical Assistance Services, Department of Juvenile Justice, Department of
Education, Office of Comprehensive Services, private providers and parent
representatives. A copy of the final
report is located in the Reports Section on the Commission on Youths website
(http://coy.state.va.us) A link from the

facilitate securing the report.
