Nominations
for the Science Textbook and Instructional Materials Review Committees |
The purpose
of this memorandum is to seek nominations for membership on the Science
Textbook and Instructional Materials Review Committee. Science educators will be needed to staff thirteen
subcommittees listed in the attachment. Two to five individuals will serve on each subcommittee.
Publishers will be instructed to send each committee member the textbooks and related materials, including the proposed correlation of the materials with the 2003 Science Standards of Learning. Each member of the committee will review the materials independently. The full committee will meet in Richmond on July 22, 2003, and on the afternoon of July 24, 2003, will finish compiling the reviewed documents. Meals and lodging will be provided. Mileage will be reimbursed, and committee members will receive a $100 honorarium.
Please
nominate one or more distinguished science educators in your division and
forward to each of them a copy of the attached application to serve on the
Science Textbook and Instructional Materials Review Committee. Nominees should submit completed forms to
the division superintendent for his/her signature. The forms are to be returned to the Department of Education by
May 12, 2003.
