SUBJECT:

Nominations for the Science Textbook and Instructional Materials Review Committees

The purpose of this memorandum is to seek nominations for membership on the Science Textbook and Instructional Materials Review Committee. Science educators will be needed to staff thirteen subcommittees listed in the attachment. Two to five individuals will serve on each subcommittee.

Publishers will be instructed to send each committee member the textbooks and related materials, including the proposed correlation of the materials with the 2003 Science Standards of Learning. Each member of the committee will review the materials independently. The full committee will meet in Richmond on July 22, 2003, and on the afternoon of July 24, 2003, will finish compiling the reviewed documents. Meals and lodging will be provided. Mileage will be reimbursed, and committee members will receive a $100 honorarium.
