FROM:

SUBJECT:

Individual Student Alternative Education Plan

Program

The Virginia Department of Education will make $2,247,581 available in the fiscal year 2003-2004 to school divisions with an Individual Student Alternative Education Plan (ISAEP) Program, as set forth in the Code of Virginia 22.1-254.D. These funds are authorized by Chapter 2097 (2003 Acts of Assembly), depending upon their availability.

Funds for the fiscal year 2003-2004 will be for services for students 16 years of age and older who meet the provisions established in the Code of Virginia and by the Board of Education.

School divisions will be notified of funding awards after receipt and review of program applications. Funds may be sent to the school divisions upon approval of applications. We anticipate that all funds will be sent no later than October 2003. School divisions will not be required to submit reimbursement request forms this year.

The application for ISAEP funds and the 2003-2004 allocations for school divisions are attached. Please submit your application no later than June 6, 2003. If no program is planned, write on the face of the application form your school divisions name and code, as well as the words NO PROGRAM IS PLANNED.
