Two
Regional Academies for Title III:
Language Instruction for Limited English Proficient and Immigrant
Students of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 |
The
Department of Education will sponsor two one-day academies for Title III:
Language Instruction for Limited English Proficient (LEP) and Immigrant
Students of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. These academies will
provide technical assistance to those school divisions applying for Title III
funds. The focus of the academies will
be to:
1) assist school divisions with phase II
applications, and
2) address best practices for LEP
students.
The academies
will be held in Richmond, Virginia, and Christiansburg, Virginia, beginning at
9:30 a.m. and concluding by 3 p.m. A
breakdown of suggested school division attendance by region is listed below.
July 24 Regions
I, II, III, IV, VIII
Dorey Recreation Center,
Richmond
July 25 Regions
V, VI, VII
Bethel
School, Christiansburg
Participants
will be responsible for their own travel.
Materials and a working lunch will be provided.
A response
form and directions to the two sites are attached. The response form should be returned to Roberta Schlicher in the
