Training
Opportunity on Medicaid and Schools |
The Virginia
Department of Education is pleased to announce a training opportunity for all
school divisions and state- operated programs on Medicaid and schools. The one-day training session will be held at
the Charlottesville DoubleTree Hotel on October 8, 2003.
There have been many enhancements to the Medicaid and Schools program. This training will provide information regarding new documentation requirements associated with Medicaid billable special education services and will also address administrative claiming for services provided to all children. The new Medicaid billable services include social work, health assistant services, and audiology.
School
divisions may wish to send special education directors, finance staff, and lead
staff in the areas of occupational, physical, and speech-language therapy;
nursing; psychology; and social work services.
The training
will address the following topics:
Medicaid legislative updates
Medicaid Administrative Claiming
Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment
(EPSDT)
Rehabilitative services
-health
services assistants
-transportation
-psychological services
-skilled
nursing services
-audiology
services
-physical
therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-
language pathology
Submission of claims and quarterly
reports.

School
divisions and state-operated programs interested in this training opportunity
must complete the attached registration form by September 22, 2003, and return
it to Mary Katharine Easter, Office of Special Education and Student Services,
P.O. Box 2120, Richmond, Virginia 23218-2120.

confirmation along with directions to the DoubleTree Hotel. Questions should be

The Virginia
Department of Education will provide lunch and breaks. This training session can accommodate 300
participants. Registration will begin at 8:00. Training will be conducted from
8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with early registration on Tuesday, October 7, from 6
to 8 p.m. There will be Medicaid billing and Family Access the Medical
Insurance Securities (FAMIS) exhibitors from 6:00 8 p.m. on October 7, and
from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on October 8th.
