The Virginia Association of Elementary School

invitation to all principals, assistant principals, and other professional
educators within your school or school division to participate in the 2003
Annual Principals Professional Development Conference. The Conference, Reaching for the Stars
and Beyond, will be held October 22-24, 2003, at the Williamsburg Marriott
in Williamsburg, Virginia.
The keynote speaker at the conference, Dr. Richard
Allington, will discuss issues for struggling readers in his presentation, What
Really Matters for Struggling Readers.
Mr. Erik Cork will present his nationally acclaimed workshop, Rap,
Rhythm, and Rhyme: Rebuilding the Writing Foundation; and Dr. Ruby Payne

will be Ms. Lisa Collis, First Lady of Virginia.
A variety of concurrent sessions will be offered to
participants encompassing the following main categories:
Curriculum/Instruction, Safety, and Leadership. Many of these topics will focus
