Board of Education Adoption Lists for K-5 Reading and K-12 Science Textbooks and Instructional Materials

I am pleased to provide you with the Board of Educations approved lists of K-5 reading and K-12 science textbooks and instructional materials. The Board of Education approved the attached lists for state adoption at the January 7, 2004, meeting. It should be noted that the K-5 reading textbook and instructional materials list is also approved as a Reading First list.

The Department of Education followed the established process for reviewing and recommending textbooks and instructional materials submitted for adoption. The Department of Education has provided the adoption lists, accompanied by profile sheets that give the information used to determine the recommendation, on our website at http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Instruction/mat_review_main.html. They are listed under the heading, Textbooks and Instructional Materials, K-5 Reading and K-12 Science.
