New K-3 History and Social Science website: An Online Resource for the Classroom |
The Virginia
Department of Education is pleased to announce the new website, Teaching
and Learning Virginia K-3 History and Social Science Standards of Learning. The website supports the 2001 kindergarten
through grade three History and Social Science Standards of Learning with
online resources correlated to the history, geography, economics, and civics
strands.
This website
will enhance teachers content knowledge and support the development of
instructional strategies for teaching the Standards of Learning. It will also serve as a guide for
instructional planning through sample lesson plans, instructional links, school
connections, literature links, and resources.
Additionally, the site will provide resources for teachers and students
to locate information on the history, geography, civics, and economics
strands.
The Virginia Department of Education will mail a
poster with information about the website to each elementary school in
Virginia by February 27, 2004. Teaching
and Learning Virginia K-3 History and Social Science Standards of Learning
