Regional Title III Academies

The Department of Education will sponsor three one-day Title III Academies. The purpose of the academies will be to provide technical assistance to school divisions applying for Title III funds. In an ongoing department effort to assist school divisions with cross-program collaboration, both Title III and Title I coordinators (or designees) are invited to participate.

The academies will be held in Roanoke, Richmond, and Falls Church, Virginia, beginning at 9 a.m. and concluding by 3:30 p.m. A breakdown of suggested school division attendance by region is listed below.

May 25 Regions V, VI, and VII

Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center

Roanoke, Virginia

May 27 Regions I, II, VIII

Sheraton Park South Hotel

Richmond, Virginia

June 3 Regions III, IV

Doubletree Hotel at Tysons Corner

Falls Church, Virginia

Registration for all three academies will be conducted by the Office of Continuing and Professional Education at Virginia Tech. Materials, lunch, and breaks will be provided. For those in need of lodging, a block of overnight rooms at the state government rate has been reserved at each location. Lodging and travel costs are the responsibility of the participant. Please contact the hotel directly to make the reservations, and refer to Title III Academy to ensure the government rate.

Attachment A contains information about the location of each Title III Academy, hotel and academy registration deadlines, and a tentative academy agenda.

Attachment B contains a registration form for the Title III Academy.

Registration forms should be returned by fax to Terri Sadler in Conference Registration at Virginia Tech at (540) 231-5182,or tsadler@vt.edu, on or before May 14, 2004. Upon registration receipt, confirmation and driving directions will be sent to each registrant.
