house Joint Resolution No. 278

Senate Joint Resolution No. 115

 

In recognition of the contributions of individual members or units of the Army and Air National Guard, Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, Air Force Reserve, and Coast Guard Reserve based in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the 2004 General Assembly passed House Joint Resolution No. 278 and Senate Joint Resolution No. 115. The purpose of these resolutions is to recognize and support members of the National Guard and the Reserves by encouraging committees in the commonwealth to conduct awareness programs and Military Appreciation Day and other ceremonies.

 

Copies of the joint resolutions agreed to by the General Assembly are attached. I am encouraging division superintendents to emphasize local attention, recognition, and appreciation of military personnel at public schools on Veterans Day and Memorial Day of each year. I also encourage schools to work with local military units to provide returning military personnel the opportunity to brief schools and to add emphasis to school systems' recognition of patriotic events.
