SUBJECT:

Annual Reports on the Status of Three-Year School Improvement Plan Implementation for Schools Rated Accredited with Warning for the School Years, 2003-2004, 2002-2003, and/or 2001-2002

 

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide further clarification of the school improvement plan implementation reporting requirements for schools rated Accredited with Warning during the 2003-2004, 2002-2003, and/or 2001-2002 school years. Section 8 VAC 20-131-310.H of the Regulations Establishing Standards for Accrediting Public Schools in Virginia states,

 

The school improvement plan and related annual reports submitted to the Board [of Education] shall provide documentation of the continuous efforts of the school to achieve the requirements to become Fully Accredited. The Board shall adopt and approve all policies and formats for the submission of annual reports under this section. The reports shall be due no later than October 1 of the school year.

 

Accordingly, schools rated Accredited with Warning during the 2001-2002, 2002-2003, and/or 2003-2004 school years are required to submit status reports by the October 1 date.

 

The Board of Education has approved guidelines and formats for developing and submitting three-year school improvement plans and the October 1 status report. The directions and suggested format for submitting the October 1 status report are provided in Attachment A of this memo. They can also be accessed as a Word document read-only file from the Office of Accreditation home page at http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Accountability/accreditation.htm

 

It is preferred that the October 1 status report be sent to the Division of Educational Accountability through electronic transmission to accredit@mail.vak12ed.edu. Plans may also be sent by mail.
