Project Graduation Regional Meetings and Training Sessions |
The Virginia Department of Education is sponsoring four regional meetings and training sessions for Project Graduation. The target audience for the meetings consists of high school administrators and guidance counselors and 11th grade English teachers.
Each regional meeting and training session will accommodate 150 participants. It is recommended that each school send a team of three members consisting of one administrator, one guidance counselor, and one English teacher.
Guidance counselors and administrators will spend time discussing graduation requirements, transcript regulations, activities within Project Graduation available to assist students in earning verified credits, and the Early College Scholars program with its various components. The Virginia Career View will provide training and explain the Kuder Preference test for the guidance counselors. This test is an important resource for students and can assist in identifying students who could participate in the Governors Path to Industry Certification option of the Senior Year Plus initiative.
The College Board will provide training for English teachers on the new SAT writing test that will be administered in Spring 2005. In addition, the Virginia Online Reading tutorial will be discussed and demonstrated.
