Title III: Language
Instruction for Limited English Proficient (LEP) and Immigrant Students Data
Collection |
In order to
comply with the reporting requirements stipulated in sections 3121(a)(2)(3) and
3122(b) of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, Title III: Language
Instructions for Limited English Proficient (LEP) and Immigrant Students,
school divisions must report annually the number or percentage of LEP students
making progress in learning English as well as the number or percentage of LEP
students attaining full English proficiency.
To ensure
accuracy in reporting, a Web-based system has been developed for school
divisions to use in entering the required data for the 2004-2005 school year.
School divisions should complete the Web-based chart for all K-12 LEP students
who were enrolled for a full academic year during 2004-2005. To complete the chart, school divisions
should enter the number of LEP students by grade level and English language
proficiency (ELP) level as a result of their performance on the spring 2005
state-approved English language proficiency assessment or as a result of a body
of evidence that includes the state-approved English language proficiency
results. The state-approved ELP assessment for spring 2005 was the Stanford
English Language Proficiency (SELP) assessment.
The Title III
Data Reporting System is available via the following link: https://eb01.vak12ed.edu/ssws/com/vdoe/dataAdmin/jsp/LoginContainer.jsp.
Detailed instructions for completing the report are included on the website.
The deadline for submission of the data is August 19, 2005.
If you have
programmatic questions regarding the report, please contact Val Gooss, ESL
coordinator, at Valerie.Gooss@doe.virginia.gov
or (804) 786-1692. If you have technical questions about entering the data via
the Web-based form, please contact Tracy Mayo, ESL reports and grants manager,
at Tracy.Mayo@doe.virginia.gov
or (804) 786-9937.
