Association of Elementary School Principals Annual Assistant Principal/Lead Teacher Professional
Development Conference |
The Virginia Association of Elementary School
Principals (VAESP) and the Virginia Department of Education extend an
invitation to all principals, assistant principals, lead teachers, and other
professional educators within your schools or school divisions to participate
in the 2005 Annual Assistant Principal/Lead Teacher Professional Development
Conference. The Conference, Leadership
in Transition: Channel Your Career Advancement, will be held March 14-15,
2005, at the Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia.
This
conference will be highlighted by presentations by Dr. Ross Greene, Dr. Jo
Lynne DeMary, Dr. Robert Lynn Canady, and Dr. Douglas J. Fiore. Dr. Greene will provide the opening
workshop, Managing Behaviorally Challenged Students: The Collaborative Problem Solving Approach. Dr. DeMarys
keynote address will focus on the state of education in Virginia. Dr. Canadys keynote, A Perspective on
Assessment and Achievement, will address many of the issues with which
principals and teachers are challenged in meeting accountability
standards. The conference will conclude
with Dr. Fiores workshop, Cooperating with Uncooperative People, which will
provide advice on how to work with the most uncooperative people in your school
and school community.
A
variety of concurrent sessions and roundtable discussions will also be
offered. These sessions will focus on
the continued impact of the No Child Left Behind Act, leadership, legal issues
in the classroom, differentiated instruction for all students, improving
student achievement, and bullying.
Practitioners from across the commonwealth and members of the Department
of Education will conduct these sessions.
