Language Programs Celebrating 2005 as the Year of Languages |
As part of the celebration of 2005 as the Year of
Languages, the Department of Education has developed a video to highlight
foreign language programs in the commonwealth. The video is entitled Building
Our Strength Through Languages: Investing in the Future and will air via
satellite on Friday, February 18, 2005, at 1 p.m.
The need to communicate with others, and to understand and be understood by them has never been greater for the future of our nation. The Commonwealth of Virginia prepares its students, in classrooms and beyond, to compete in the global marketplace with greater multilingual skills and multicultural understanding. The connections to other disciplines learned during the study of language and literature provides language learners with cognitive, analytical, and communication skills that are critical in todays society.
The following is the satellite connection
