Technical Amendments to Board of Education Regulation Entitled Classification of Expenditures (8 VAC 20-210) |
The Board of Education recently completed technical
amendments to its regulation entitled Classification of Expenditures (8
VAC 20-210) to align the regulation with recent changes in the Code of
Virginia. The regulation was amended to include the major classifications
as required by the Virginia Code, ( 22.1-115), which requires the board to
prescribe the following major classifications:
instruction; administration, attendance and health; pupil
transportation; operation and maintenance; school food services and other
noninstructional operations; facilities; debt and fund transfers; and
contingency reserves.
The
administrative impact on the localities related to the amended regulation is
insignificant, and the fiscal impact is minimal. School divisions are currently
reporting in the classifications as specified in the Code; therefore, no change
in local policy or practices is anticipated.
The
text of the regulation, as amended, is attached.
Questions
may be directed to Mrs. Anne Wescott, assistant superintendent for policy and
communications at the Virginia Department of Education (Anne.Wescott@doe.virginia.gov)
