SUPTS. MEMO NO. 47

February 25, 2005

INFORMATIONAL

TO:

Division Superintendents

FROM:

Jo Lynne DeMary

Superintendent of Public Instruction

SUBJECT:

Revision to 2004-2005 Title I, Part A, and Title I, Part D, Subpart 2, Entitlements under Provisions of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, Public Law 107-110

This communication is to inform you of revisions to the Title I, Part A, and Title I, Part D, allocations that were released in Superintendents Memorandum, Informational, Number 241, dated December 3, 2004. Funding allocations for both Title I, Part A, and Title I, Part D, were affected by an adjustment made by the U.S. Department of Education (USED).

The USED informed the Virginia Department of Education that adjustments in allocations were due to a data correction in the states neglected and delinquent student count. A reduction to the states Title I, Part D, allocation resulted. In addition, the states Title I, Part A, allocation has increased insignificantly due to related recalculations of certain state set-asides. Attachment A contains a spreadsheet that shows the revised allocation.

School divisions must submit an amendment to their 2004-2005 applications for Title I, Parts A and D. Please follow the 2004-2005 electronic amendment process. Budget amendments should be submitted as soon as possible to the appropriate specialist(s) at the Virginia Department of Education in order to avoid unnecessary delay in the reimbursement process.

The appropriate forms and instructions can be found at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/VDOE/Instruction/OCP/nclb-applications.html#handbookofforms on the Virginia Department of Educations website.

If you have questions, please contact Mr. Kent Dickey, budget director, at (804) 225-2025.
