Call for Proposals for Presentations at the Summer 2005 School Improvement Academy Entitled From Vision to Practice |
The Virginia
Department of Education (VDOE) invites teachers to submit proposals for
presentations at the Summer 2005 School Improvement Academy entitled, From
Vision to Practice, to be held at the Hotel Roanoke Conference Center in
Roanoke, Virginia, on July 26-27, 2005.
The purpose of the academy is to provide schools in improvement with the
opportunity to learn about effective teaching strategies and/or programs from
their peers throughout the state. The
academy will be divided into three strands: 1) mathematics instruction; 2)
reading/language arts instruction; and 3) school community factors. Prospective presenters are encouraged to
propose presentations in one of the three categories described above.
Attachment A
contains a Workshop Session Proposal Form.
The deadline for submission of proposals is April 22, 2005. Prospective presenters should fax or e-mail
completed proposal forms to the attention of Val Gooss at 804-371-7347 or Valerie.Gooss@doe.virginia.gov. Final selections and notification will be
made by May 13, 2005.
All
presenters will be responsible for their own expenses related to participation
in the Summer 2005 School Improvement Academy, including travel and
lodging. Presenters are also
responsible for preparing 50 presentation handouts.
