Annual Health for Success Training Sessions |
The Virginia
Department of Education and the Virginia Comprehensive Health Education
Training and Resource Center have scheduled this summers Health for Success
training for July 11-14, 2005, at Longwood University. The annual Health for
Success training sessions provide technical assistance to teachers,
instructional specialists, administrators, nurses, counselors, social workers,
and community-based educators who instruct or counsel students on sensitive
issues.
The Board of
Education guidelines state that:
Those
individuals selected by the localities to teach the local Family Life Education
program shall participate in the training program sponsored by the Department
of Education. The training program
shall include training in instructional elements to support the various
curriculum components (Family Life Education: Board of Education Guidelines
and Standards of Learning, pg. xv).
In addition to Family Life Education, other
informative sessions to be offered include:
Registration for
the four days is $35, and includes accommodations (double dormitory room), all
meals, and training materials.
Registration forms should be submitted to Longwood University by June
10, 2005. Please feel free to duplicate
the attached registration form and distribute it to anyone who might be
interested.
