An Online Resource for the Classroom |
The Virginia
Department of Education is pleased to provide teachers and school divisions
with the new website, Virginias First People Past and Present. The website highlights the Virginia History
and Social Science Standards of Learning (K.1a, 2.2, 2.4b, c, d, VS.2d, e,
VS.3g, VS.4b, USI.3a, b, USI.4b, WHII.4d, VUS.2, and VUS.6a) and provides
information about the Virginia Indians, past and present.
Virginias
First People Past and Present is
designed for elementary, middle, and high school teachers as a guide in the
instructional planning process for teaching the history, geography, and
economics of the Virginia Indians. The website includes information, pictures,
maps, lesson plans, links, and resources to support the Virginia History and
Social Science Standards of Learning.
