Symposium on the Management of Student Education
Records |
The Virginia Department of Education in
collaboration with the Public Schools Records Consortium and the U.S.
Department of Educations Family Policy Compliance Office will offer two
one-day symposiums on student education records. The symposiums are offered to
school administrators responsible for the management of student records
including principals, guidance counselors, and other school officials.

The
symposiums will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude by 3 p.m. The
deadline for registration is July 11. You may obtain additional

On-site
registration begins at 9:30 a.m.
The symposiums will feature discussions on the
rights of parents and students regarding education records as outlined by the
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, the Protection of Pupil Rights
Amendment, and the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Information will be
provided on records retention and disposition and other challenging issues
pertaining to the management of student education records.
