Academic
Review Process Training Opportunity |
The Virginia Department of Education, Office of
School Improvement, is pleased to announce that regional training will be
offered to school division personnel regarding the academic review process.
Individuals who participate in this training will be qualified to serve on
academic review teams to assist those schools that did not have an academic
review in 2004-05, are accredited with warning for the first time in 2005-06,
and are designated as Tier II or Tier III schools.
The content of this one-day training will include:
an overview of the academic review process
an explanation of team member and school division
responsibilities
an analysis of the eight areas of review
a review of developing and implementing the School
Improvement Plan.
The training dates, locations and times are as
follows:
1. September
16: George Mason University, Loudoun
(8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.)
2. September
23: Southwest Higher Education Center,
Abingdon (8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.)
Each training location will accommodate two groups
of 40 participants each. Participant slots will be filled on a first-come,
first-served basis; therefore, you are urged to reserve your space as soon as
possible.
You are encouraged to send a team of three people
from your division to one of the training locations. Team members can be central office personnel, principals,
assistant principals, instructional leaders, special education directors, or
lead teachers. There is no fee for this training, but participants will be responsible
for travel, meals, and lodging expenses.
Attached is a registration form that will reserve
your space. Please complete one form for each participant who will attend and
