Tests |
The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to
announce a series of WebEx sessions highlighting the blueprints for the new
grades 4, 5, 6, and 7 mathematics and language arts Standards of Learning
tests. The purpose of the sessions is
to provide assistance to school divisions as they prepare students for the
spring 2006 administration of these new Standards of Learning assessments.
The interactive WebEx sessions will focus on the
specifics of the mathematics and language arts tests in grades 4, 5, 6, 7, and
8. Each session can accommodate up to
19 participants with telephone and computer access. The schedule of 16 one-hour sessions appears on the attached
registration form. These sessions will
begin on November 14, 2005, and continue through November 17, 2005, and will
benefit assistant superintendents, directors of instruction, content
specialists, and principals of schools that house grades 2 through 8. Participants will be registered on a
first-come basis due to the limited number of slots available at each
session. Registration is due November
4, 2005.
During the language arts WebEx sessions, attention
will be given to the new Technical Assistance Document for Reading in Grades 2
through 8. This document is attached
in .pdf format.
In December a website will be available, which will
contain all of the mathematics and language arts resources from the Virginia
Department of Education. A
Superintendents Memo will be posted announcing the websites
availability. These resources will aid
teachers in preparing students for the Standards of Learning assessments. Divisions may download the documents as
needed.
For additional information about these sessions, please
