Public Comment Period and Public Hearing for the
Fine Arts Standards of Learning |
On October 26, 2005, the Virginia Board of Education
accepted for first review the proposed Fine Arts Standards of Learning. The Virginia Board of Education is now
seeking public comments on these Standards of Learning for use in the public
schools in the commonwealth.
The Department of Education has posted the proposed
Fine Arts Standards of Learning on the Department of Educations website at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/VDOE/SOLcommentforms/
with e-mail links for public comment under the headings of dance arts, music,
theatre arts, and visual arts.
The Virginia Board of Education will hold one public
hearing to solicit comments on the proposed Fine Arts Standards of
Learning. The public hearing will take
place on January 11, 2006, and will be held at the James Monroe Building, 101
N. 14th Street, Richmond, VA
23219. The hearing will be held
immediately following the adjournment of the Board of Education business
meeting, which begins at 9 a.m.
Registration of speakers for the hearing will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Speakers will have three minutes to speak and should
bring copies of their comments for the board.
