A Title I
Technical Assistance Academy: Ensuring Compliance with the No Child Left
Behind Act of 2001(NCLB) |
The
Department of Education is pleased to announce two regional academies entitled
Ensuring Compliance with the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. The Academies will address the following
topics: 1) Moving from a Targeted Assistance to a Schoolwide Program; 2)
Parental Involvement Requirements; 3) Supplemental Educational Service Pilots;
and 4) Identification and Selection of School Attendance Areas and Schools and
Appropriate Allocation of Title I Funds.
One academy
will be held in Fredericksburg at the Holiday Inn Select Conference Center on
Thursday, January 12, 2006, and one will be held at The Hotel Roanoke and
Conference Center on Thursday, January 19, 2006. Registration for these academies will be open from 8 a.m. until 9
a.m. Both academies will begin at 9 a.m. and will conclude at 3:45 p.m. School divisions are invited to send a team
of two individuals consisting of a key instructional leader and the Title I
coordinator.
The Office of
Continuing and Professional Education at Virginia Tech will manage the
registration. Please fax the attached registration form to Gilda
Machin-Scarpaci, program coordinator, at (540) 231-9886 by Friday, December
9, 2005. Ms. Machin-Scarpaci may be
reached by telephone at (540) 231-6120. Breaks and lunch will be provided,
lodging and parking will be master billed, and travel will be reimbursed in
accordance with state guidelines.
If lodging is
required, a reservation must be made directly with the respective hotel prior
to Friday, December 9, 2005.
