SUBJECT:	Career and Technical Education Creating Excellence Awards for 2006

We are pleased to announce the Virginia Career and Technical Education Creating Excellence Awards Program for 20052006. The Virginia Advisory Committee for Career and Technical Education will continue to present the business and industry partnership and advisory council/committee awards. Attached is a separate packet of information for each category in the Creating Excellence Awards Program. Since deadlines have changed, please review each categorys packet carefully to ensure that all criteria and deadlines are met. The five packets included are:

• Attachment A - The Advisory Council/Committee Award School Division or Joint Technical Center Nomination
• Attachment B - The Advisory Council/Committee Award Community College Nomination
• Attachment C - The Business and Industry Partnerships Award Community College Nomination
• Attachment D - The Business and Industry Partnerships Award School Division or Joint Technical Center Nomination
• Attachment E - The Individual and Group Educator Award (local and regional)

The local judging process must be completed by Thursday, March 31, 2006. Individual and group award winners should be forwarded to the regional coordinator by Thursday, April 6, 2006. The regional level of the Creating Excellence Awards Program will operate under the already existing career and technical administrators region.

Regional chairpersons are to receive the nominations and select a panel to review and select the regional winners. Regional winners will move forward to the state level of competition and their nomination packets are due in the Career and Technical Education office in Richmond by 4 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2006. Regional chairpersons should review the category packets for the state-level persons to receive nominations. Please list legibly the name or names of the individuals/educators as it should appear on the certificate of recognition. An awards luncheon is planned to recognize regional and state winners at the Sheraton Richmond West Hotel, 12 Noon, Monday, June 5, 2006.
