SUBJECT: |
Student Data
Collection for Homeless Children and Youth |
The
purpose of this memorandum is to request school division data regarding
homeless children and youth enrolled and served during the 2005-06 school year.
This information is required by the U. S. Department of Education (USED) and is
similar to data requested in previous years. Please note that USED has
requested that students displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita be included in
homeless student counts.
Reporting
Subgrantee
school divisions receiving direct McKinney-Vento funding through Project
HOPE-Virginia must submit the more detailed data collection form required in
the Annual Report for McKinney-Vento
Subgrants.
Sample
report forms are attached. In addition, a copy of the appropriate form and a
technical assistance guide is being sent electronically to the local homeless
education liaison in each school division. Please
ensure the appropriate form is completed for your school division.
This
year, an online submission system is available via the Project HOPE-Virginia
website: www.wm.edu/hope/datacollection.
By using the online report, users will be
linked to the appropriate data collection form. If online submission is not
possible, the completed report may be mailed, faxed,
or e-mailed to Project HOPE-Virginia.
In order to adhere to the USED submission date for state
reporting, please submit your completed report no later than
