A Technical
Assistance Academy on Completing the 2006-2007 Applications for Federal Funds
Under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) |
The Department of Education is pleased to
announce two regional technical assistance academies designed to provide
guidance to school divisions in completing the 2006-2007 applications for
federal funds under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). The academies
will address the following topics: 1)mechanics of completing the electronic
application; 2)writing consolidated measurable goals and objectives;
3)completing the program-specific information requests; and 4)the process for
revising and resubmitting the electronic applications. An agenda is attached for your convenience.
One
academy will be held in Blacksburg, Virginia, at The Inn at Virginia Tech and
Skelton Conference Center on Tuesday, March 21, 2006, and one will be held in
Richmond, Virginia, at the Sheraton Park South on Wednesday, March 29,
2006. Registration for these academies
will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. Both academies will begin at 8 a.m. and
conclude at 4 p.m. School divisions are
invited to send to the workshop up to three persons who are responsible for
completion of the consolidated application.
If the school division submits individual applications, the Title I
coordinator and two selected program representatives should attend.

Overnight
accommodations will be master billed to Virginia Tech, but attendees are
responsible for making their own hotel reservations and cancellations, if
needed. For those in need of lodging, a block of rooms has been reserved at
each hotel. The cutoff date for room
reservations is February 17, 2006.

have been reserved at The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center
and the Holiday Inn University for the Blacksburg academy. For reservations at The Inn at Virginia Tech
and Skelton Conference Center, call (540) 231-8000 and reference the Virginia
Department of Education Application Academy. For reservations at the Holiday
Inn University, call (540) 552-7001 and reference the Virginia Department of
Education Application Academy.
Rooms have been reserved at the Sheraton Park
South for the Richmond academy. For
reservations, call (804) 320-5255, and reference the Virginia Department of
Education Application Academy.
Registration will be managed by the Office of
Professional Education at Virginia Tech.
