School Participation in Title Programs Under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 |
This information is being provided in
preparation for school division
submissions of the 2006-2007 consolidated or individual applications for funding
under the No Child Left Behind Act of
2001 (NCLB). NCLB requires that students attending private schools receive
services under Title I, Part A; Title II, Part A; Title II, Part D; Title III,
Part A; Title IV, Part A; and Title V, Part A. Planning and implementing the type
of services must be done in consultation with private school officials. Exceptions to this requirement exist for
Title I, Part A, if the school division participates in the bypass provision as
outlined in section 1120(e).
A summary of how NCLB addresses
consultation with private schools, determination of equal expenditures,
determination of services, public control of funds, and provision of services
to private schools can be found in Attachment A. In addition, the following link provides non-regulatory guidance from
the United States Department of Education on provisions for private schools: http://www.ed.gov/policy/elsec/guid/equitableserguidance.doc.
