Dominion Educational Partnership Grants |
The Dominion Foundation is offering approximately
$220,000 in educational partnership grants to encourage the development of new
programs to strengthen mathematics and/or science education in kindergarten through
grade 12. Accredited public and private elementary and secondary schools,
public school divisions, institutions of higher education, state agencies, and
501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations are invited to apply. Projects must take
place between July 15, 2006, and July 30, 2007.
This highly competitive funding consists of two
categories. The mini-grant category
provides up to $1,000 in funding to enhance the teaching of mathematics and/or
science. The larger grant category
provides funding from $1,001 - $5,000 and must focus on one of the following:
Parental Involvement: Projects to increase the role
of parents in mathematics and/or science achievement;
Closing the Gap: Projects to help schools with
standardized test scores in mathematics and science averaging below the 50
percentile; or
Environmental Education: Projects to develop
mathematics and/or science skills through the study of the environment.
Applications must be submitted electronically
through www.dom.com (keyword
education). The project description
should total no more than two pages for larger grants and one page for
mini-grants. The description should
include: a brief explanation of the
project and targeted student population, expected outcomes, evaluation methods,
and project leadership.
Applications
must be received by Dominion electronically by 5 p.m.,
