Web-based Technical Assistance for the Reporting of Limited English Proficient (LEP) Student Data as Required Under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001
The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) requires school divisions that receive Title I and/or Title III funds to meet annual measurable achievement objectives (AMAO) that include the following:
Annual increases in the number or percentage of LEP students making progress in learning English;
Annual increases in the number or percentage of LEP students attaining full English proficiency by the end of the school year; and
Percentage of LEP students making adequate yearly progress as described in section 1111 (b)(2)(B).
In preparation for meeting reporting requirements stipulated in sections 3121(a)(2)(3) and 3122(b) of NCLB, the Virginia Department of Education will offer technical assistance to school divisions that did not meet the AMAO for LEP students for 2004 and 2005.
This Web-based training will provide assistance to school divisions regarding the identification of limited English proficient (LEP) students, as well as how to access and report the required data.
