Recommendations
for 2006 Commonwealth Talent Pool |
The
Department of Education has established a talent pool that consists of a cadre
of distinguished teachers and administrators in Virginias public schools.
Candidates from the pool may be considered for membership on advisory boards
and task forces such as the Advisory Board on Teacher Education and Licensure;
the State Special Education Advisory Committee; the Virginia Advisory Committee
for the Education of the Gifted; and the Task Force to Restructure School
Leadership Programs in Virginia. In addition, candidates may be considered for
special recognition programs such as the Presidential Awards for Excellence in
Mathematics and Science Teaching and the Milken Educator Awards program.
For 2006,
please submit recommendations for at least two elementary (grades PreK-6)
classroom teachers and one elementary administrator (principal or assistant
principal) from your division who exhibit strong potential for professional
leadership and who make a positive impact on students, colleagues, and the
community. The two classroom teachers
recommended should be in their early to mid-careers with no more than 18 years
of service. Principals recommended should be in their first 10 years of
employment as administrators and shall not have more than 20 years of
experience. Candidates must be
individuals who are recognized by peers and supervisors for their achievements.
Please submit
your recommendations on the attached form. All questions must be answered.
Also, please include with this form a one-page letter that specifies how the
candidate meets the criteria mentioned in this memo.
