Governor
Kaine has officially recognized May 10, 2006, as School Nurse Appreciation Day
in the Commonwealth
of Virginia. The Certificate of Recognition can be found
at the following website:

The
certificate provides recognition for the contributions and work of school
nurses, including:
- Collaboration with families and
communities in recognizing that the health, safety, and well-being of
students are crucial to their growth, development, and educational success
- Enhancing the educational process
for students by helping them meet their individual health care needs
- Coordination of screenings, health
education, prevention programs, and strong communication networks between
families, teachers, and school administrators in order to foster and
protect the health status of students
- Provision of professional health
services in order to promote learning and student success
Division
superintendents are encouraged to join with Governor Kaine and the Department
of Education in recognizing Virginia
school nurses as they serve with compassion and dedication and faithfully work
to make health a priority for children during the school day.
