SUBJECT:

Achieve A Resource to Help Close the Achievement Gap

The Department of Education is pleased to announce the release of Achieve, a Web site designed to assist teachers and administrators in improving student achievement. The website was designed and implemented in coordination with Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning (McREL) as a resource for educators with questions regarding three subgroups required through the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. It provides current, easily accessible, scientifically-based research and strategies for three sub-groups: 1) economically disadvantaged students, 2) students with disabilities, and 3) students with limited English proficiency. Achieve is located at www.helptoachieve.org.

Questions about the site may be addressed to Dr. Anthony Dursa, specialist for Comprehensive School Reform, Office of Program Administration and Accountability, by e-mail at Anthony.Dursa@doe.virginia.gov, or by telephone at

804) 371-7579.
