SUBJECT: |
Spring 2006 Review of Standards of Learning Tests by School Division Personnel |
Staff from a number of school divisions have inquired about the review of Standards of Learning (SOL) tests that are being administered for the first time in the 2005-2006 school year that will not be released. While the nature of the SOL testing program makes the tests subject to a high level of security, it is important that teachers charged with the responsibility of instructing students in the SOL be aware of the manner in which the tests are constructed. Therefore, upon completion of the spring 2006 SOL test administration, teachers and central office staff may review under secure conditions the SOL tests that have not been publicly released. Beginning May 19, 2006, through June 16, 2006, the following tests will be available for this review:
reading tests (grades 3 through 8)
mathematics tests (grades 3 through 8)
plain English mathematics tests (grades 3
through 8)
End-of-Course English: Reading (2002
standards)
Algebra II (2001 revised standards)
Algebra I plain English Mathematics
all history/social science tests (only 2001
standards)
Security guidelines and
detailed procedures for reviewing the tests will be sent to your division
director of testing via a testing memorandum.
