As part of the
Virginia Department of Educations ongoing effort to assist school divisions in
meeting the parental participation requirements for Title III, Part A, Language
Instruction for Limited English Proficient and Immigrant Students, under the No
Child Left Behind Act of 2001, a summer professional development academy
for Title III coordinators or their designees will be offered. The two-day academy entitled Parents as
Educational Partners (PEP): School Related Curriculum for Language Minority
Parents will be offered on July 24-25, 2006, at the Omni Hotel in
The
Office of Continuing and Professional Education at Virginia Tech will conduct
registration for the academy. Materials,
lunch, and breaks will be provided.
Travel will be reimbursed at the state rate. For those requiring
lodging, a block of overnight rooms at the state rate has been reserved. Hotel
rooms will be direct billed. Please
