The Virginia
Department of Education (VDOE) has recently received final information from the
U.S. Department of Education about the level of funding for the SDFSCA program.
Total Allocation to
Virginia $6,414,756
Governors
Office (20%) $1,282,951
VDOE
(80%) $5,131,805
Of the
$5,131,805 allocated to the VDOE, funds will be distributed as follows:
School
Divisions (93%) $4,772,578.65
VDOE
(7%) $
359,226.35
Information
about an expected 21 percent overall reduction in funding was provided to
SDFSCA school division coordinators in February 2006. Preliminary funding information was also
provided to the coordinators as a part of their technical assistance workshop
on May 18, 2006.
The attached
table provides a listing by school division of the final Title IV, Part A
entitlements. This information varies
only slightly from the preliminary estimates provided to the coordinators in
rounded dollars. While some school division allocations remained exactly the
same, some school divisions gained a few cents while others may have lost a few
cents.
