SUBJECT: |
2006-2007 Title III, Part A, Entitlements under Provisions
of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, Public Law 107-110 |
Attached are the 2006-2007 Title III, Part A, federal allocations for school divisions that qualify based
on the fall 2005 enrollment of limited English proficient (LEP) students and/or
immigrant and youth students.
The total amount of the allocation is available to school
divisions as of July 1, 2006, through the reimbursement process. School divisions that receive less than
$10,000 through the LEP grant award allocation must apply in a consortium with
one or more school divisions to be eligible to receive the award. This limitation does not apply for the
immigrant and youth award.
Upon receipt of an approvable application by the Virginia
Department of Education, the school division will receive an e-mail with
instructions to log onto the Online Management of Education Grant Awards
(OMEGA) system to review the grant award notifications and to distribute the
budgets to the object code level.
Questions regarding this process should be sent to OMEGA SUPPORT at omega.support@doe.virginia.gov
or call (804) 225-2040.
School divisions that have not submitted applications should
do so immediately. The procedures and
forms for submitting a consolidated or individual application are available on
the Department of Educations ESL website at: http://www.doe.virginia.gov/VDOE/Instruction/ESL/#nclb.
If you have already submitted an application, a revised
application reflecting the 2006-2007 grant award amount
will need to be submitted.
If you have questions, please contact Val Gooss, ESL coordinator, at (804) 786-1692, or Valerie.Gooss@doe.virginia.gov
or Stacy Freeman, ESL specialist, at (804) 371-0778, or Stacy.Freeman@doe.virginia.gov.
