Training
Opportunity for the School-Level Academic Review Process for Schools
Accredited with Warning in Tier II and Tier III |
This memo
provides information about regional training opportunities for school division
staff in the school-level academic review process. This training will enable each school
division to have one or more individuals on staff to have expertise in the
school-level academic review process.
The process includes, but is not limited to, identifying strengths and
weaknesses of instructional practices, and understanding the components of
effective school improvement plans.
The
Department of Education (DOE) provides oversight for all academic reviews, but
if a school is designated as a Tier II or Tier III school, school division personnel
participate in the academic review process. Please refer to Superintendents
Memo No. 202, dated October 7, 2005, for a complete explanation of the academic
review process at the following link:
http://www.doe.virginia.gov/administrators/superintendents_memos/2005/.
Each
school division may send a team of up to three people to one of the training
sessions listed below. Please make every
effort to attend the training scheduled in your region. Participants may choose to attend a training
scheduled outside of their region, but only if space is available. Participant count in each training session is
limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
