VDOE Re-enrollment
Institute |
The purpose of this
memo is to announce the Virginia Department of Educations (VDOE) institute, A Team Approach to Re-enrollment: Making It Work. The institute has been
designed to provide technical assistance in implementing the new state
re-enrollment regulations and enhancing interagency cooperation and support. The
new regulations governing the re-enrollment of students committed to the
Department of Juvenile Justice became effective August 23, 2006. The regulations
present a procedure for re-enrollment of students into the public schools when
they have been in the custody of the juvenile justice system and receiving
instruction through local and regional detention homes and the Department of
Correctional Education.
The
institute will be presented in two locations. The first regional institute is scheduled
for November 14, 2006, at the George Washington Inn and
School divisions are
reminded to identify a re-enrollment coordinator and provide contact
