SUPTS. MEMO NO. 228

October 20, 2006

INFORMATIONAL

TO:

Division Superintendents

FROM:

Billy K. Cannaday, Jr.

Superintendent of Public Instruction

SUBJECT:

Final Title II, Part A, Entitlements for the 2006-2007 School Year Under Provisions of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, Public Law 107-110

Attached are the 2006-2007 Title II, Part A, entitlements for each school division. These funds are available through the departments reimbursement process.

An adjustment to the formula used to calculate each school divisions allocation was made based on guidance received from the U.S. Department of Education (USED) during the Title II, Part A, monitoring visit. As a result of this adjustment and an overall decrease in Title II, Part A, funding nationally, most school divisions will notice a decrease in their allocation, compared to 2005-2006.

Upon receipt of an approvable application to the Virginia Department of Education, the school division will receive an e-mail with instructions to log into the Online Management of Education Grant Awards (OMEGA) system to review the grant award notification. Budgets will be distributed in OMEGA based on approved applications. Questions regarding this process should be sent to OMEGA SUPPORT at omega.support@doe.virginia.gov or call (804) 225-2040.

If you have questions, please contact Carol Sylvester, Title II, Part A, specialist at (804) 371-0908, or e-mail at Carol.Sylvester@doe.virginia.gov or Lolethia Kibble, Title II, Part A, specialist at (804)786-9952, or e-mail at Lolethia.Kibble@doe.virginia.gov.
