Public Comment and Public Hearings on the Proposed Revised Foreign Language Standards of Learning
October 25, 2006, the Virginia Board of Education accepted for first review the
proposed revised Foreign Language Standards of Learning. The Virginia Board of Education is now
seeking public comment on these Standards of Learning for use in
The Department of Education has posted the proposed revised Foreign Language Standards of Learning on the Department of Educations website at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/VDOE/Instruction/Language/ with e-mail links for public comment under the headings below:
Spanish firstname.lastname@example.org; and
Modern Foreign Languages email@example.com.
public comment period will remain active for 30 days, or until November 30,
2006. Comments may also be sent via mail
or fax to Helen Small, specialist for foreign languages, Office of Middle and
High School Instruction, Virginia Department of Education,
The Virginia Board of Education will hold two public hearings to solicit comments on the proposed revised Foreign Language Standards of Learning. Below are the dates and locations of the public hearings:
November 29, 2006
Jefferson Board Room, 22nd Floor
Time: The hearing will be held immediately following the adjournment of the Board of Education business meeting, which begins at 9 a.m. Registration of speakers for the hearing will begin at 10:30 a.m. Directions to this location may be found on the Department of Educations website at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/VDOE/meetings.html. Speakers will have three minutes to speak and should bring copies of their comments for the Board.
