Fall 2006 VGLA Training Sessions for
Title III Coordinators |
On October
25, 2006, the Board of Education approved the Virginia Grade Level Alternative
(VGLA) Assessment as a substitute for the grades 3 through 8 Standards of
Learning reading tests for limited English proficient (LEP) students. This option may be offered to LEP students
who are classified at levels 1 or 2 of English
Language Proficiency.
In response
to requests from school divisions, the Virginia Department of Education will
repeat the VGLA Assessment training for Title III/ESL Coordinators and
individuals who are responsible for training school-level staff. The regional
training sessions will follow a train-the-trainer model. Each school
division may register two participants for one of the training sessions. All
participants must pre-register with Conference Solutions, LLC, at www.customconference.com/VGLA_LEP by November 20, 2006.
The
