SUBJECT:	Course Enrollment Data Collection DUE: September 15, 2007

Virginias P-16 Council, Virginias Honor Schools Grant, and the National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education are established initiatives with indicators focused on assessing students preparedness for success following high school. To assist the Commonwealth in supporting these initiatives, the Virginia Department of Education will collect student-level course enrollment data beginning this school year. Data gathered from this collection will also be used to complete the Council of Chief State School Officers annual State Indicators of Science and Mathematics Education survey.

All middle and high school mathematics and science courses taken between July 1, 2006 and June 30, 2007, should be reported. The Course Enrollment Data Collection elements are defined in Attachment A. Attachment B contains a list of assignment codes for all the courses to be included in this new collection.

The Course Enrollment Data Collection application will be open in SSWS from June 15, 2007 through September 15, 2007; early submission is encouraged. Your divisions End-of-Year Student Record Collection must be successfully completed before you can access and complete the Course Enrollment Data Collection. Instructions for completing and submitting the data can be found on the Virginia Department of Educations website at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/VDOE/Publications.
