Division Superintendents |

FROM: |
Billy K. Cannaday, Jr. Superintendent of Public Instruction |
|
SUBJECT: |
2006-2007 School Improvement Data Collection |
In order to comply with the reporting
requirements stipulated in section 1111 (h)(4)(F) of the No Child Left
Behind Act of 2001, school divisions with schools in Title I School
Improvement must annually report information related to local implementation of
School Improvement sanctions.
The School Improvement Implementation
Survey (SIIS) is a Web-based application that ensures accuracy in reporting of
information related to Title I School Improvement. SIIS allows data synchronization with the
End-of-Year Student Record Collection data submitted by July 16, 2007, as
requested in Superintendents Memorandum Number 22, dated June 8, 2007, located
on the Virginia Department of Educations website at
http://www.doe.virginia.gov/administrators/superintendents_memos/2007/adm022.html.
SIIS will be available beginning August
27, 2007, at https://p1pe.doe.virginia.gov/ssws/login.page.do.
Detailed instructions for completing
the survey are on the website. The
completion deadline is Friday, October 5, 2007.
The survey will require divisions to electronically
enter school improvement data on public school choice, supplemental educational
services, corrective action, planning for alternative governance, or
implementing alternative governance for schools in Title I School Improvement
in 2006-2007. Available individual
student SES data from the 2006-2007 End-of-Year Student Record Collection will
be automatically populated to SIIS.
Additional SES data are required (see Attachment A) and must be entered
in SIIS using one of the following options: 1) manually entering the data; or
2) uploading the data in a tab delimited file.
After completing the survey, division
superintendents must verify the reports accuracy and sign the verification
form provided in the Web-based application.
Signed verification forms should be faxed to Mrs. Helen Tucker, administrative
assistant, at (804) 371-7347, by Friday, October 5, 2007.
Users
completing the survey will need to request access from their divisionwide
Single Sign-on for Web Systems (SSWS) administrator. The SSWS administrators contact list is
located on the Virginia Department of Educations website at https://p1pe.doe.virginia.gov/ssws/sswswebapp/jsp/reports.jsp?report_format=pdf&report_id=contactlist&applicSystemTypeId=26.
