Recommendations for 2007 Commonwealth Talent Pool

 

The Department of Education has established a talent pool that consists of a cadre of distinguished teachers and administrators in Virginias public schools. Candidates from the pool may be considered for special recognitions or membership on advisory boards and task forces such as the Advisory Board on Teacher Education and Licensure; the State Special Education Advisory Committee; the Virginia Advisory Committee for the Education of the Gifted; and the Task Force to Restructure School Leadership Programs in Virginia.

 

For 2007, the Department is seeking recommendations for at least two secondary (grades 6-12) classroom teachers and one secondary administrator (principal or assistant principal) from your division who exhibit strong potential for professional leadership and who make a positive impact on students, colleagues, and the community. The two classroom teachers recommended must be in their early to mid-careers with between five and 18 years of experience. Principals recommended must be in their first ten years of employment as administrators and shall not have more than 20 years of experience. Candidates must be individuals who are recognized by peers and supervisors for their achievements.

 

Please submit your recommendations on the attached form. All questions must be answered. Also, please include with this form a one-page letter that specifies how the candidate meets the criteria mentioned in this memorandum. Complete information must be received by Monday, April 16, 2007. Send to:
