The Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC), the annual giving
campaign for state employees, has requested that school divisions provide K-12
students with the opportunity to participate in the CVC Visual Arts
Contest. The CVC plans to showcase the
winning artwork statewide in posters and on the CVC website. Also, the top ten selected entries will be
exhibited across the commonwealth. The
theme for the campaign is Give Hope.
The CVC invites each school division to submit entries to the
contest. Entries must be postmarked by May
15, 2007. Please mail or deliver the
entries to Cheryle C. Gardner, principal specialist
of fine arts, Office of Middle and High School Instruction, Virginia Department
of Education, 101 North 14th Street, 23rd floor,
Richmond, Virginia 23219. A first-,
second-, and third-place winner will be selected for each of the three
levels: K-5, 6-8, 9-12. Each first-place winner will be awarded
$25.00, and each winner will receive a certificate. An overall grand prize winner will be
selected and the artwork made into the campaigns 2007 poster.
